Shelly Larson is Jo Studio, Inc. I am a problem-solving design and production pro who lives to figure out the most strategic, efficient and creative way to design and produce your project and also deliver fantastic results — whether online or in your hands. I have a BA in Journalism/Fine Art from the University of Nevada-Reno (Go Wolfpack!) and a MA in Graphic Design from William Paterson College (quick train ride away from NYC).

Based in Westcliffe, Colorado (but virtually anywhere), I have 25+ years experience in advertising, design and production for both print and web and on both East and West coasts (as you can tell from my alma maters). I’ve worked with some pretty major companies over the years: Sony Music, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, McAfee, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Oakland International Airport and RadioShack, to name a few. But no matter the size of the client or the project, my goal is always to deliver flawlessly-produced, strongly-designed and clearly-worded communications with a sense of style and fun. I prefer to work solo but I also have numerous agencies / partners / people with skills that I can tap into to create a team of experts, dependent, of course, on what your project needs.

Beyond my magical Mac, I love to travel (road trip, plane trip, heck a trip to the grocery store can be an adventure). Since our move to Westcliffe in 2021, I also hike the beautiful Wet Mountain Valley almost every day with my dogs, am an early riser, an avid hot tubber, a voracious reader and friends attest to some pretty epic baking skills.

Why Jo Studio?

Three reasons. 1) My middle name is Jo; 2) Little Women! Always good to have a protagonist as well as a literary reference; and 3) Rhymes make for memorable business names. “Everyone likes rhymes,” says Dr. Steven Pinker, a Harvard professor, linguist and author of How the Mind Works.
